At Hoërskool John Vorster, we believe that every learner deserves the opportunity to succeed. Our academic support programmes are designed to identify learners who need additional help and to provide them with targeted, compassionate assistance. From extra classes after school to specialised learning support, we walk alongside our learners every step of the way.
Support Programmes
Extra Classes
Subject-specific extra classes are offered before or after school, particularly in the lead-up to examinations. Schedules are communicated by subject teachers at the start of each term.
Remedial Teaching
Learners who are identified as needing additional academic support may be referred to our remedial teaching programme, which provides focused, small-group instruction in core subjects.
LSEN Support
Our Learning Support Educators (LSEN) work with learners who have identified learning barriers, providing individualised support plans and concessions where applicable.
Mentorship Programme
Senior learners and staff mentors are paired with learners who need academic and personal guidance. The mentorship programme fosters a culture of support and accountability.
Psychological Support
A school counsellor and/or psychologist is available to support learners experiencing emotional, social, or psychological challenges that may affect their academic performance.
