Learner Committees
A network of learner committees operates under the oversight of the SRC at Hoërskool John Vorster. Each committee has a specific mandate and set of responsibilities that contribute to the life and culture of the school.
Active Committees
- Prefects: Senior learners appointed to leadership roles across the school. Prefects assist with discipline, mentoring junior learners, and representing the school at events.
- House Committees: Each school house has its own committee responsible for coordinating inter-house competitions, fundraising, and house spirit.
- Arts and Culture Committee: Supports and promotes cultural activities including choir, drama, debate, and art exhibitions.
- Environment Committee: Drives awareness and action around environmental sustainability on the school grounds.
- Social Responsibility Committee: Coordinates community outreach, charity drives, and social upliftment projects.
Get Involved
Learners who would like to join a committee can enquire at the school office or contact their class teacher. Committee membership is open to all learners from Grade 8 to 12 and is recorded on the school report as evidence of extra-curricular involvement.
