We Care for Our Community
At Hoërskool John Vorster we believe that a true leader does not only excel academically, but also cares for others. We actively encourage learners to participate in community service projects and social responsibility initiatives — a core part of our school culture and value system.
Community Projects
Feeding Schemes
Throughout the year the school organises various food projects for local food banks and welfare organisations. Learners, parents, and teachers contribute to supporting vulnerable community members.
Clothing Bank
Twice a year the school collects second-hand clothing that is donated to less privileged communities. Every item of clothing makes a difference in someone's life.
School Visits and Mentorships
Grade 12 SRC learners lead mentorship programmes at nearby primary and secondary schools, where they share study advice, career guidance, and inspiration with younger learners.
Environmental Action
Our learners take part in clean-up campaigns in parks and public spaces around Nigel, and contribute to awareness campaigns about environmental conservation.
Care Home Visits
Groups of learners regularly visit local care homes to spend time with residents, hold arts and crafts sessions, and perform music. These visits enrich both the learners and the residents.
Learners who would like to get involved in social responsibility initiatives can contact their class teacher or the SRC. Contact the school at info@johnvorster.co.za for more information.
