Grade 12 — Your Final Year

The matric year is an exciting but challenging time. At Hoërskool John Vorster we support our Grade 12 learners every step of the way — from academic guidance to farewell events that mark the high point of their school years.

Matric Final Examinations

The National Senior Certificate (NSC) examinations take place annually in October and November. Learners are advised to begin studying early and to make use of the study resources the school provides.

  • Examinations typically take place from October to November
  • Learners receive their examination timetable via the school
  • Absence during examinations must be reported to the school immediately
  • Results are announced in January of the following year

Study Tips for Matrics

  • Draw up a realistic study schedule and stick to it
  • Use past examination papers for practice
  • Consult your subject advisor if you are unsure about anything
  • Ensure enough sleep and breaks — the mind needs rest
  • Make use of the school's study resources and academic support
  • Stay positive — you are better prepared than you think

Matric Farewell and Farewell Events

The Matric Farewell is the highlight of the matric learners' school career. This formal evening event is held at the end of the academic year and gives learners the opportunity to celebrate their final year's achievements together with friends and family.

Date, venue, and further information about the Matric Farewell is announced by the school early in Term 3. Contact the school office at info@johnvorster.co.za for enquiries.
