How to Apply

The application process at Hoërskool John Vorster is designed to be simple and transparent. Follow the steps below to complete your application successfully. If you have any questions, please contact our office — we will gladly assist you.

Application process at Hoërskool John Vorster

GDE Applications: Grade 1 and Grade 8 (2027)

Applications for Gauteng Grade 1 and Grade 8 admissions for the 2027 academic year have not yet opened, but are expected to open later in July 2026. Once the application window officially opens, all parents and guardians must apply via the official GDE Admissions Portal.

What you should know:

  • Expected timeline: Based on previous years, the application period for the GDE online system usually runs over a few weeks during July and August.
  • Who must apply: Parents of learners entering Grade 1 (including those currently in Grade R) and Grade 8 in 2027.
  • New profiles: You will need to create a new profile on the system, as parent details from previous years cannot be reused.

Required documents: To prepare, make sure you have digital copies or certified hard copies (for delivery to schools) of the following available:

  • Parent/Guardian's ID or Passport
  • Learner's Birth Certificate
  • Proof of Residential Address (e.g. municipal account, lease agreement)
  • Proof of Work Address (if applicable)
  • Clinic Card / Immunisation Card (for Grade 1)

Submission of documents after online registration: Documents must be submitted in person at the school from 07:30 to 14:30.

Step-by-Step Process

Step 1 — Enquiry

Contact the school office by phone at 011 814-8218 or email at info@johnvorster.co.za to discuss availability and requirements. If you are unsure about any part of the process, please don't hesitate to contact our office — we are happy to help.

Step 2 — Interview

Successful applicants will be invited for an admission meeting with the principal or designated staff. The interview is an opportunity to get to know each other.

Step 3 — Confirmation

After successful completion of all steps, a formal offer of admission will be sent in writing to the parent/guardian. The place is confirmed upon receipt of the registration fee.
